A
County Stratagy for Volunteering 2006 - 2008
The Norfolk VCS Infrastructure Consortium is working to improve and sustain the infrastructure of the voluntary and community sector in Norfolk, to support local voluntary and community sector groups. This work is funded by the Government ChangeUp programme.
In the first year of ChangeUp funding, the Norfolk VCS Infrastructure Consortium delivered over 30 projects, all building into a coherent programme designed to lay the foundations for developing a strong framework of support for thousands of frontline voluntary and community organisations in our county, whatever their size.
In 2006, the Government established Capacity Builders as the national delivery and monitoring body for ChangeUp funding. Capacity Builders decided that one of their earliest actions should be to review all of the county consortia and to allocate funding for their development.
The Norfolk VCS Infrastructure Consortium has consequently been awarded payment from the national Consortia Development Fund and the financial year 2007-8 will be devoted to the review and development of the Consortium membership and working practices.
The milestones in this year are:
- By 15th June 2007 to produce a first draft Delivery Plan for the development activities throughout the year
- By December 2007 to produce a detailed Business Plan 2008-11 and a Strategy 2008-14
The Consortium has decided to offer a development opportunity within the Sector by seconding someone to research and write the Business Plan and Strategy. The recruitment for this secondment will commence in late June 2007 (contact Linda Rogers, NVS' Head of Partnership Development, for more information). Both the Business Plan and Strategy will be published here once complete.
After March 2008, it is hoped that there will continue to be ChangeUp funding available. Even if this is not the case, the Norfolk VCS Infrastructure Consortium will continue to build resources for local organisations.
The VCS Infrastructure Consortium is a partnership of Infrastructure organisations which work to support and develop ‘front-line’ organisations.
