How NorfolkCOMPACT Works
The NorfolkCOMPACT is a tool for improving relationships between organisations in the Voluntary and Community Sector and those in the Public Sector.
Its aim is to foster improved relationships and a shared approach to service planning.
Taking the National Compact as its starting point, The NorfolkCOMPACT interprets those agreed standards, expectations and ways of working and illustrates how they can be applied locally.
Each document has specific undertakings agreed by the signatories, as well as a general statement that sets the context for the partnership work and relationship.
The principles behind the Compact are:
- respect the contribution that each party brings to the partnership
- understand the constraints that each partner operates under
- acknowledge each party's vital role in providing quality services
The NorfolkCOMPACT, together with its Codes of Practice, has been agreed by all the main statutory sector organisations and over 130 of the voluntary and community sector organisations in Norfolk.
If your organisation is in either the voluntary and community sector or the statutory sector and supports the aims of the Compact you could consider signing up.
You have the right to expect your partner to uphold the standards they have agreed to in the Compact - just as they have the right to expect you to do the same.
The NorfolkCOMPACT provides the structure - the partners provide the commitment and will to develop the strength of the relationship so that it leads to more efficient and effective services for people in Norfolk.
If you would like to know more about the NorfolkCOMPACT, or think an organisation may not be meeting its standards, contact Dennis Mawson the NorfolkCOMPACT Officer on 01603 883828 to discuss what the next steps might be.
