Civic Awards for Voluntary Service in Norwich

Tuesday January 15, 2008

The City of Norwich Annual Civic Awards for Voluntary Service in Norwich 2008 are open for nominations until 14 March 2008.

The awards are given to people in Norwich who give their
time, care and support freely, for the good of others, without financial reward. Nominations are welcome for individuals, groups and charities to receive recognition for the valuable volunteer work they do in Norwich.

Successful nominations will be invited to a special ceremony
in City Hall and one lucky winner and guest will also be nominated to attend a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in 2009.

A panel of Judges, which includes the Lord Mayor and Sheriff, will meet in April and make some difficult choices. Successful nominations will be notified and invited with guests to a ceremony to receive their award followed by a civic reception.

Faith Groups Survey

Monday January 7, 2008

Norwich and Norfolk Voluntary Services and West Norfolk VCA are trying to build a picture of support needs and current support provided in Norfolk for faith groups. We want to find out what support is required and the gaps in provision to help us plan our future services and also provide evidence to lever funding into the county. Therefore the information provided will help to improve services in the county to support faith groups and this will further enable them to do their good work in the community. We have therefore compiled a survey to help gather this information.

The link below takes you to the Survey Monkey website where the survey can be completed on line. That is our preferred method of completion as Survey Monkey will collate the results for us. A pdf version is also available for anyone who cannot access the internet. The deadline for completion of the survey is close of Monday 14th January. It is a reasonably short survey and should not take more than 10 minutes.

If you have any queries regarding this email and survey or would like further information please contact Fay Sheldon, telephone 01603 883831, email fay.sheldon@nvs.org.uk. Both NVS and WNVCA thank you for your assistance.

NVS on the move

Wednesday January 2, 2008

NVS' central office has now moved to our new offices at 83-87 Pottergate, Norwich, NR2 1DZ. Our telephone numbers and email addresses remain unchanged.

The move has relocated the staff and services, previously based at the Charing Cross Centre on St John Maddermarket, and has brought together many of the NVS staff and services that were based at diverse locations throughout the city. Carlink, the Advocacy Service & the Patient & Public Involvement (PPI) Forum Support Organisation are some of the services that have now been brought into the centre of Norwich.

The new offices will allow a more co-ordinated approach to service delivery and an improved service for volunteers and voluntary organisations.

There will be a formal opening of the new Pottergate offices in February but our new reception area including the Norwich Volunteer Centre and resources library for voluntary organisations will be open to visitors from Wednesday 2nd January 2008.
